Black Climate Action
Building Climate Resilience: A Digital Resource for Black Communities
SWK 576 Project by Micayla Minnis
Mission
This website is dedicated to empowering Black communities in Connecticut by providing resources, emergency preparedness information, and advocacy tools to combat the impacts of climate hazards. I recognize that Black communities are disproportionately affected by climate change and strive to offer solutions, education, and resources to action.
Why This Matters
From extreme heat waves to worsening air pollution, Black communities are disproportionately affected by climate hazards. Systemic inequities in housing, healthcare, and infrastructure make it harder to recover from climate-related disasters. My goal is to address these barriers by connecting communities to resources like cooling centers, emergency response plans, and legislative advocacy efforts.
